Helping to reduce isolation and loneliness

Fifi’s Vision C.I.C provides Support for individuals and families who have additional needs.

Myself and my two daughters are neurodivergent and have gone through some really challenging times that pushed me to create a support group. I realised how lonely and isolating it is to care for children with additional needs, as well as having them myself and I knew I needed to help as many people as I could from feeling that way.

I voluntarily dedicate my time, money and energy into running free weekly sessions and creating opportunities for individuals and families along with peer support to reduce the isolation and loneliness which I once felt.

I work independently and do not receive funding however over the years I am so grateful for the love and support that has certainly kept me going, from financial to community support.

I have also been fortunate to have had some generous contributions that go directly to my community groups where many families have benefited from since 2018 when I created the group, Fifi's Vision is a non-profit and all donations are used to directly support families through our organisation.

I hope my sessions help give a sense of belonging and have a positive impact on peoples mental health. I hope people feel safe and accepted with those of us who chose to support each other.

Bringing like minded people together who have lived experience to share and support each other navigating the SEN world and build meaningful friendships is one of my main goals.

We have various sessions throughout Reading every week.

We run Walk it Through/ Park meet ups as well as breakfast meets around Reading throughout the week helping families to access their local community, whilst providing an opportunity to socialise and maintain physical and mental health.

I have various other activities and events I regularly host and continue to build on as well as fund raising events for day trips helping families to access experiences that they may face barriers accessing without our peer support and help.

Mandatory running costs and paper work has been a learning journey for myself and definitely a challenge but seeing the impact of Fifi's Vision C.I.C for so many people gives me the determination to embrace the challenges and continue to provide a lifeline.
